Godfrey's Gazette - May and June, 2011

LETTER to MEMBERS

Big Thanks to all who participated in our 35th Anniversary event on Friday, March 18 – our members-only concert featuring our homeboy, John Gorka. With so many in attendance, we held it in the sanctuary of Trinity Episcopal Church on E Market St in historic Bethlehem. What generous hosts are Mother Laura Howell, Marcie Lightwood, and their entire crew at the church!

Deborah Miller did a fantastic job of coordinating our Silent Raffle for the event, with the help of her team. Deborah made the contacts, collected the items, set them all up attractively and netted a nice sum for Godfrey’s as a result of many contributed hours of work.

Our own Scott Petersen brought in the sound crew, and with equipment supplied by Dave Reinert, and sound support by Godfrey’s volunteers Dave Reichard and Gar Davidson, the concert itself could not have sounded better. That was the 12-hour shift, no kidding.

We were graced with the helping hands of many generous volunteers, from both Godfrey Daniels and Trinity Episcopal. And the audience – all supporting members of Godfrey Daniels. All-in-all, the event surpassed our expectations, and we plan to do it again next year. We’re already working on bringing in another favorite artist, for our members Only.

Friday March 18 was a wonderfully promising Spring day, weather-wise, as well. Warm and sunny, and the evening breezes allowed us to keep the church doors and windows open, and the crowds were able to step outside for some evening air during the breaks.

Now April, the weather’s been mostly March-like – Spring is on her way, they say. We’re hoping the warm weather finds you outdoors enjoying the many festivals we are fortunate to have in our region, and beyond. Though our season is winding down a bit, we’ll continue presenting top-name artists on Fridays and Saturdays thru mid-July, when our season closes with Frog Holler. Come inside for something new, or an old favorite.

Happy Spring!
