Trout Fishing in America
Trout Fishing in America is a unique treat. Keith Grimwood and
Ezra Idlet have been performing together for nearly three decades, which
has given them a kind of synergy that few musical groups ever achieve, and
we are delighted to present them right here at the air-conditioned IceHouse
for two special Musikfest shows.
Starting the afternoon at 4 pm will be their Children and Families
show, with lots of family-friendly humor and participatory fun for all ages.
This is intelligent and invigorating stuff that looks at the world as kids
see it, often goofy and silly but always positive and inspirational. Bring
the kids for sure, but be prepared to be supremely entertained no matter how
old or young you are.
Then at 7 pm it will be the adults’ turn, and you can try to figure out just
how two guys can create so darned much great music; witty, intelligent, and
often flat-out rocking! With originals and covers (their take on Little
Feat’s “Dixie Chicken” is amazing!), their genre-bending repertoire
leaves audiences and critics delighted. Rock, R&B, Country, Reggae, Pop,
Swing, whatever you like, Trout will provide in full. So hard to categorize,
but so easy to enjoy.
As an added bonus, Kathy O’ Connell, host of WXPN’s “Kid’s Corner”
will be our MC for the evening. Anyone who is a fan of Trout knows there is
no bigger fan than Kathy, and no better surprise for the kids. What a treat!
