Judd and Maggie
with our guests, Amy Forsyth and Charley Farrell

Once in a while, stars collide in a pleasant manner that brings people together all for the good. That’s how we describe stumbling across brother-sister duo Judd and Maggie. On Facebook, a random view at a video (one of several) being shared as a documentary is coming together for the restoration of the Kessler Theatre in Oak Cliff, Texas (a Dallas suburb and hometown of Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan). The YouTube video struck us with the beauty in vision and harmony voices. We had to know more, and when we found more, decided to bring Judd and Maggie to you. Originally from Baltimore, now residing in East Nashville, and touring in support of their fourth cd release, Choose, we found a date that works for both parties, including their full band. We hope it works for you too.

Beppe Gambetta

Sponsored by WDIY

For fans of HOT flatpicking, Italian acoustic guitarist Beppe Gambetta is a jaw dropper, who is no stranger to Godfrey's or the American guitar scene. Beppe has collaborated with masters of the acoustic scene (Gene Parsons, Tony Trischka and many others) on ambitious projects such as reviving and contemporizing the energy of the "brother" duets with guitar master Dr. Dan Crary, drawing on traditional European and American guitar techniques to develop his own original style. An accomplished author and teacher, Beppe wrote the first Italian manual on flatpicking and recorded many instructional videos, as well being the first to publish his own recipe book. Tonight will be a saucy and tasty night indeed!

Zen for Primates

The Zen crew is back, spreading mature mirth and musical mayhem on a warm summer night in Bethlehem. Life is a Cabaret whenever they show up with their unique tropical sound. With the mysterious T. Roth on vocals, stories, bells, whistles, and the contents of his fish, fronting complex and tight musical weavings from Mike Krisukas on guitar, Jodi Beder on cello, Pete “Saxman” Fluck on sax and harmonica, Shelagh Maloney on violin (don’t call it a fiddle) and with frequent participation on the part of the audience, Zen for Primates is not just music, it's a true auto body experience!

Mary Fahl

How many of you remember the unique lead vocals from the 90's band October Project, an East Coast folk-rock/adult alternative group that recorded two poetic albums for Epic Records? Mary Fahl, who was blessed with that enchanting, sometime haunting and often powerful voice will be gracing our stage, armed only with her guitar and a whole new array of original songs. Alone on a stage, her performances reveal what is essential about Fahl as an artist - genuine honesty and emotion, captivating melodies, and songs built around big ideas rooted in what it is to be human. We hope you will come experience Mary's magnificent range and expressive, emotional songs.

George Hrab and Triologic

Bethlehem’s own George Hrab is amazing. A drummer for the Philadelphia Funk Authority, George is also a high-energy multi-instrumental madman. His lyrics are filled with hilarious warped storytelling that will have your jaw hanging open, and his music is tight, rhythmic, and totally absorbing, with shades of Frank Zappa, Yes, XTC, Mozart, and Steely Dan. Fun, intelligent, skewed, and a totally mind bending good time. He usually is seen fronting a large group, so this will be a rare chance to catch him in a small venue.

Frogholler - Sold OUt!

Sponsored by WDIY

Having taken their self-styled "Pennsylvania Dutch Rock" to Europe and the greater American soundscape, Frog Holler brings back a boat full of critical raves and reviews. With a rustic and soulful sound reminiscent of The Band, they weave Dobro, banjo, and acoustic guitar with rock underpinnings and have created a deliriously entertaining stage presence. Darren Schlappich's original songs have a plainspoken eloquence, causing Nick Cristiano of The Philadelphia Inquirer to say: "When it comes to capturing his place in the world, Schlappich continues to stand head and shoulders above most Americana songwriters." Our season-closer concert always sells out, so get your seats reserved early.

Mark Twain at Godfrey Daniels

Mark Twain will regale the masses with witty tales and lively anecdotes at Godfrey Daniels. He will do this in willful disregard of the fact he died in 1910. Twain is wont to ramble on about his boyhood memories, the newspaper publishing business, life on the Mississippi and frogs. Mostly, though, he likes to talk about the river.
The intent of the show is to give the audience a bit of Twain's biography, his humor and his viewpoint. The subject for his talk is his evolving view on what is man. To illustrate his view on this subject at various points during his life, he feels compelled to give the audience some of his personal history (he being his favorite subject). His conclusions are what you might expect if you know something about Twain. It's the journey to that conclusion that is the fun. Q & A to follow.
Storyteller Charles Kiernan, now retired from gainful employment, performs at theatres, listening clubs, schools, libraries, and arts festivals. He is also coordinator for the Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild, Pennsylvania State Representative for the National Youth Storytelling Showcase, Pennsylvania State Liaison for the National Storytelling Network and recipient of the 2008 Individual Artist Award from the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission.
